about cleanse off mitt

An innovative Irish product, created by Jennifer Rock, award-winning skin expert, bestselling author and founder of The Skin Nerd, Cleanse Off Mitt is a reusable microfibre cosmetic mitt designed to remove makeup, oil and debris from the skin.

It is gentle, thorough and respectful to the skin, containing no harsh fragrances, preservatives or drying alcohols that can often irritate and exacerbate skin conditions. Just add water and the COM removes 99.9% of your makeup!

Why did it come about? Simple. Jennifer hated the fact that people used wipes to remove their makeup, because they don't actually remove makeup, they can irritate the skin and the majority of wipes contribute to landfill, day in, day out.

The Nerdie Bit Behind Cleanse Off Mitt

Research and Development

For over two years, Jennifer studied various weaves, materials, compositions, microfibre depth and diameters, all with a view to making an effective product that removes makeup without bugging the skin at all. Let us tell you: it wasn't easy.

Many versions were not deemed kind enough to skin or suited to use on the skin at all. A mission was born! Hundreds of prototypes and many focus groups and conversations later, the original Cleanse Off Mitt came to be! As nerdie perfectionists, we always think about how we can improve the Cleanse Off Mitt and we're delighted to say that by December 2020, we're committing to having a fully biodegradable (COM + packaging) Cleanse Off Mitt for you.

Micro-Technology

The fibres are made with advanced micro-technology. The fibres on the mitt are 30 times thinner than cotton fibre and up to 100 times thinner than a human hair! These tiny loops manage to break the surface tension that binds oil and makeup to the skin's surface, gently hooking the oil and removing debris. The Cleanse Off Mitt is fully free of any product. All you need to do is add water to the mitt and let its mechanical nature scoop the debris from the pore.

How is it different to a regular facecloth?

A traditional facecloth is one-dimensional; it does not contain any loops. This means it does not have the ability to ‘scoop’ or ‘hook’ the makeup off gently. Traditional face cloths are known to harbour more bacteria due to their more dense fabric and inability to hang dry.
